DHAKA: Opposition BNP standing committee member MK Anwar MP Wednesday said the country is deviating from the “civilized world” and underscored the need for an anti-government movement for a remedy.
“So, there is no alternative but movement against the government,” said the BNP leader.
He came up with the comment while addressing a roundtable discussion on ‘1/11 Conspiracy, Release of Khaleda Zia and Democracy of Bangladesh’ at the National Press Club.
The discussion was organized by National Youth Forum in observance of jail release day of the BNP Chairperson.
He said, “The crisis is deepening as the government is walking the wrong path instead of implementing their poll pledges.”
They would make a mistake if they think that "the power which brought them in power would keep them in power", he added.
“The people of the country would oust them from power,” said the ex-minister in a swinging criticism of the government party.
BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Islami Oikya Jote Secretary-General Abdul Latif Nezami and Muslim League Secretary- General Atiqul Islam, among others, took part in discussion, with former minister TM Gias Uddin Ahmed in the chair.
