DHAKA: Opposition Chief Whip Jainul Abdin Faruque requested the government to consider the conditions given by them for joining parliament session, as his ruling-party counterpart knocked his door Thursday for a surprise meet.
Awami League Chief Whip of Parliament vice-principal Abdus Shahid sat for a sudden parley at his office in the Parliament Bhaban, three days ahead of the parliament’s autumn session.
Later, Faruque told banglanews, “The ruling party Chief Whip came in to my room to take a cup of tea with me.”
“No formal talk or discussion did take place between us. I again informed him about the matter of denying us floor in JS session,” he said.
“I also told him that we would join the JS session if the government accepted our logical terms and conditions,” he added.
The BNP lawmaker told banglanews that details would be divulged at a press conference at the media room of the parliament building at 11am Friday.
Vice-principal Abdus Shahid’s office also confirmed the impromptu meeting between the two chief whips.
