SYLHET: Ilias Mukti Songram Parishad observed dawn-to-dusk hartal in the district on Thursday.

The organization observed the strike demanding the trace out of BNP organizing secretary Ilias Ali.

The hartal supporters brought out processions and staged rallies at several points of the divisional city.

A group of Chhatra Dal men led-by its central vice-president Abdul Ahad Khan Jamal and Metropolitan Chhatra Dal assistant general secretary Motiul Bari Chowdhury Khurshe brought out a procession from Mirabazar and ended at Zindabazar.

Meanwhile, no untoward situation was reported. Vehicular movement has been completely halted in the city due to hartal. But railway service was normal.

On August 17, from a protest procession, Ilias Mukti Songram Parisad declared the hartal programme.
