Jamaat-cop clash hurt 10 in M’bazar

MOULAVIBAZAR: At least 10 activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, were injured in a clash with law enforcers in Juri Upazila of the district on Sunday morning.

The identity of the injured could not be found immediately and they were sent to various private clinics and health complexes.

Witnesses said that as part of the centrally declared programme, Jamaat-Shibir activists brought out a protest procession at around 10:00am. Being obstructed by police, Jamaat-shibir activists vandalized a police van and a private car that triggered a clash between tehm.

Confirming the matter, Juri police station Officer-in-Charge Mahabubur Rahman told banglanews, “Police picked up a Jamaat activist from the spot.”
