THAKURGAON: BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said his party wants tougher anti-drug drive but it must be non-political and the accused should be brought to justice.
The ongoing anti-drug drives have created panic among countrymen as the ‘extra-judicial killings’ are being carried out by government, he added.
The senior BNP leader made the remarks to reporters at his village home in Kalibari of Thakurgaon city on Wednesday (May 23).
Alleging that the government has thrown the Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) polls into maze, he said Gazipur Superintendent of Police (SP) is a marked pro-Awami League man and there won’t be any fair election there under his watch.
Fakhrul also said no parliamentary election will be held in the country keeping Khaleda Zia in jail. She was jailed in a false, fabricated case and the government is intentionally delaying her bail.
Fakhrul finally claimed that there is no democracy prevailing in the country as the government has gripped the judiciary.
