DHAKA: BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir alleged that the police force is being used to plot blueprint of vote rigging in the upcoming 11th parliamentary election.
The senior BNP leader made the allegation to reporters at BNP chairperson’s Gulshan political office on Tuesday (November 20) while interviews of party nomination aspirants were underway.
Fakhrul said, “We have seen in the past that the role of police was heavily questioned during the city corporation elections was heavily questioned. Once again, we are getting news from reliable sources that blueprint of election fraud is being created by police. ”
Refusing to mention any specific name of the police official, he said, “The official who did the blueprint in last election is doing it again. The blueprint is about how the election can be rigged in favor of ruling Awami League. I am calling for the withdrawal of that official.”
Mentioning the Election Commission, Fakhrul said, “I hope the EC will realize their duties and carry them out by the power vested upon it by the constitution.”
