AL man killed in Faridpur pre-polls violence The body of Yusuf Al Mamun at the sadar hospital

FARIDPUR: A local leader of Awami League was beaten to death following a scuffle revolving the upcoming national polls, in Faridpur sadar upazila. 

He was identified as Yusuf Al Mamun, 40.

Allegations have been raised against two BNP supporters over the murder. 

The incident happened at a tea-stall in Goaldangi area under North Channel union.

Witnesses said BNP supporters Majid and Aziz started have beaten Mamun mercilessly following an altercation on the elections and government.

Mamun succumbed to his injuries while was being taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, in a critical condition.

The deceased was the cultural affairs secretary for North Channel unit Awami League. He was a follower of Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, who is contesting the elections from Faridpur-3 constituency.

A ward unit Awami League president also sustained critical injuries in the incident. He was admitted to the sadar hospital.
