MYMENSINGH: Awami League candidate Ekramul Haque Titu submitted his nomination forms for the mayoral post in the first ever elections to Mymensingh City Corporation (MCC), slated for May 5.
Regional Election Officer Md Alimuzzaman received the nomination form around 11:30am on Monday (April 8).
After submission of nomination, Ekramul Haque Titu said, “If I get people’s mandate and elect as mayor, I will work with everyone to build Mymensingh as a modern city corporation.
Earlier on April 5, Awami League nominated Ekramul Hoque Titu as its mayoral candidate for the first ever elections to Mymensingh City Corporation.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the AL Central Working Committee with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair at Ganabhaban on the day.
Titu is the vice-president of Metropolitan unit of Mymensingh AL. He was elected as the first administrator of Mymensingh municipality or City Corporation on October 16 of last year.
According to polls schedule, the last day of nomination papers submission is on April 8. Nomination papers scrutiny will start on April 10 and the date for withdrawal of candidacy is on April 17.
