RAJSHAHI: The authorities of Rajshahi Institute of Health Technology (IHT) closed the institute for indefinite period after a factional clash broke out among Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists on the campus Tuesday (April 9).
Male students of the institute were ordered to vacate the hostels by 8pm Tuesday and females by 10am Wednesday (April 10).
ICT authorities issued the order after holding an urgent meeting of the academic council.
“Eleven students, who sustained critical injuries in a bloody clash, were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH),” said a notice.
The hostels for male and female students are ordered closed, fearing further bloody clash and worsening situation, it added.
On Tuesday, the clash erupted between the followers of IHT unit BCL General Secretary Ohiduzzaman and President Aslam Sarker, over purchasing a skeleton, said students.
Various locally made arms and sticks were recovered from the spot, said Rajpara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Hafizur Rahman.
Necessary legal action will be taken over the incident, he added.
