FENI: A Feni court on Saturday (April 20) placed Sonagazi upazila unit Awami League President Ruhul Amin on five-day remand in madrasa girl Nusrat Jahan Rafi murder case.
Ruhul Amin, also the former vice president of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa, was produced before the court of Feni Senior Judicial Magistrate Sharaf Uddin Ahmed and sought seven-day remand for him, in the afternoon.
Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) ASP Moniruzzaman confirmed the matter to Banglanews around 8pm.
A PBI team arrested Ruhul Amin from Takia Bazar of Sonagazi, Friday (April 19) afternoon.
On April 6, the suspects set Nusrat on fire after pouring kerosene oil on her, after she had filed sexual harassment complaint against her headmaster Songazi’s Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasha Principal SM Siraj-ud-Daula over sexually harassing her.
On the night of April 10, Nusrat succumbed to her burn injuries while undergoing treatment at the ICU of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), losing battle for life for five days.
Law enforcers arrested 14 people till Friday, over the incident.
