Rests of BNP MPs-elect to take oath by April 30: Hanif

DHAKA: Rests of BNP MPs-elect, including its secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, will take oath by April 30, Mahbub ul Alam Hanif, acting General Secretary of Awami League hopes.

He expressed the hope while addressing a reception organized by the Dhaka City South unit Mohila Awami League at Bangabandhu Avenue on Friday (April 26) as the chief guest.

Targeting to BNP, Hanif said that a BNP leader who was elected in the December 30 election was sworn in on Thursday (April 25). Hopefully rests of you will take oath by April 30, respecting the mandate of the people.

Urging Mirza Fakhrul to show respect to mandate of the people, he said, “You (Fakhrul) always talk about democracy, but you can not show respect to the people who voted for you. You are ignoring the verdict of the people”.

If you think that you do the duty to the people without taking an oath then it will be wrong. If you do not join the Parliament by taking oath, the people of respective constituency will not vote for you in future, Hanif added.

Fazilatun Nisa Indira, Jannatul Bakia, Nargis Rahman and Shabnam Jahan Shila were accorded reception for their nomination in the reserved seats of the Jatiya Sangsad.
