DHAKA: BNP formed a committee to provide aid to the victims of cyclonic storm Fani, on an urgent basis.

A press release, signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, confirmed the matter Sunday (May 5).

BNP Standing committee member Goyeshwar Chandra Roy was made convener of the committee.

Relief and Rehabilitation Affairs Secretary of the party Aminur Rashid Yasin was made the member secretary. 

BNP executive committee leaders and presidents and secretary generals of Barishal, Barguna, Satkhira, Bhola, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Lakshmipur, Feni and Chandpur district units were made the members.

They will run relief material distribution among the victims in the affected areas of Fani, said the press release. 

However, Fani didn't cause any large scale casualties in Bangladesh as the cyclonic storm had weakened to a deep depression Saturday (May 4).
