DHAKA: BNP is set to host an iftar party for orphan students and alem-ulema (Islamic scholars) on the first day of the fasting month of Ramadan.
The programme is scheduled to be held at the city's Ladies Club on Tuesday (May 7) evening.
BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia used to take iftar with orphans and alem-ulema on the first day of Ramadan every year. But the BNP chairperson is in jail from before the last Ramadan, Shayrul Kabir Khan, press wing member of BNP chairperson, told Banglanews.
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and party standing committee members will attend the ifter party and exchange pleasantries with them.
Several hundreds orphan boys from different orphanage homes and prominent alem-ulema were invited to join the Iftar party.
