DHAKA: BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed deep shock and condolences at the death of eminent Nazrul Sangeet singer-researcher Khalid Hossain.

Each of the Nazrul Sangeet numbers sung by Khalid Hossain touched hearts of this country's music-lovers, said a mourning note of BNP.

Khalid Hossain's death has created a deep vacuum in the music industry, it added.

In the note, Tarique Rahman and Mirza Fakhrul shared deep condolences to the bereaved family members of the singer and his fans and well-wishers.    

However, Ekushey Padak winning Khalid Hossain breathed his last at National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) in Dhaka Wednesday (May 22) night.

The 84-year-old was suffering from various old age complications including heart, kidney and lung ailments.
