DHAKA: BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has again alleged that the government deliberately imprisoned Khaleda Zia depriving her of getting bail due to political reasons.

He was speaking at a press conference at BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office around 11:30am on Friday (May 24). 

Farkhrul said “Is the government trying to kill their chairperson Khaleda Zia in jail by resorting to various ploys?” The government will be held responsible if anything bad happens to Khaleda in the jail due to lack of proper treatment, he also warned. 

“Why the government is so weak?” Throwing the question, Fakhrul said that the law, courts are being used against Khaleda Zia without facing her politically. “Though Khaleda Zia deserves bail in the cases she was convicted, the government is depriving her of it”, he added.

Demanding immediate release of Khaleda Zia, the BNP secretary general said that the government should have given a bulletin about health condition of Khaleda Zia. But till now they did not do that.
