DHAKA: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said those who are occupying the government, weren't elected by the people of Bangladesh.

They are holding the power using muscle, he added.

Mirza Fakhrul was addressing an iftar party and discussion arranged by Nagorik Oikya, at Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) auditorium Saturday (May 25). 

"Awami League has ruined Bangladesh's constitution in a very planned manner since coming to power. Has snatched people's all of the basic rights," he added.

Mirza Fakhrul further said that ruling party has ruined all the democratic institutions of the country.

Gono Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain, Dhaka University (DU) Prof Asif Nazrul, Nagorik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Gonoshasthya Kendra founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's advisor Abdus Salam, Biplobi Workers' Party General Secretary Comrade Saiful Haque, Krishak Sramik Janata League General Secretary Habibur Rahman Bir Pratik, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) General Secretary Abdul Malek Ratan, Bikalpa Dhara President Nurul Amin Bepari, Kalyan Party Secretary General Aminur Rahman, Gono Dal President Golam Mawla Chowdhury and BNP Organizing Secretary Shama Obayed, among others, were present.
