BNP's Rumeen Farhana elected MP uncontested Rumeen Farhana

DHAKA: BNP Secretary for International Affairs Barrister Rumeen Farhana was elected uncontested MP at the 11th national parliament.

On Tuesday (May 28) EC Joint Secretary also Returning Officer (RO) Md Abul Kashem declared her MP.

The gazette on her win will be published within one-to-two days. Afterwards, she will be sworn-in, said the RO.

However, Tuesday was the last date of withdrawing candidacy and June 16 the date of voting.

No voting will be held as BNP hasn't nominated any other candidate for the same constituency.

Earlier, seven BNP candidates were elected in December 30 national polls. Of them, six took oath as MPs. As per the Election Act, the party was allocated one of the women's reserved seats.
