Khaleda’s indictment hearing in 11 cases July 17

DHAKA: A Dhaka court deferred till July 17 the hearing of 11 cases filed with various police stations here, against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on various charges.

Judge KM Imrul Kayes of Dhaka Metropolitan & Sessions Judges Court set the date on Wednesday (June 12) at the makeshift court installed in newly-built building at Keraniganj central jail.

Khaleda Zia’s lawyers pleaded for time extension for hearing of the cases saying the High Court stayed most of the cases.

Of those, indictment hearing in 10 cases and another one is charge-sheet acceptance hearing filed against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.  

Of the cases, eight were filed with Darussalam Police Station over arson charges in 2015, two with Jatrabari Police Station on charge of making seditious comments about the freedom fighters and the martyrs of the Liberation War of 1971 and another one with Shahbagh Police Station.
