Jamaat man allegedly killed in Satkhira

SATKHIRA: A Jamaat man was allegedly killed in attack of local Awami League activists in Kashimabari area under Shyamnagar Upazila of the district on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Shafiqul Islam, 40, son of late Ansar Nikari.

Sources said that Jamaat activists brought out a procession in Natun Bazar area while Awami League activists started to throw brick chips aiming the procession, leaving the Jamaat man dead on the spot.

Local Jamaat demanded that the man was an activist of Jamaat who went to join in the rally of 18-party alliance and died at around 10:00am.

On the other hand, Awami League claimed that Shafiqul died of cardiac arrest.

Shyamnagar Thana Officer-in-Charge Sagir Mia told, “Shafiqul Islam died of cardiac arrest when he went to join in the procession.”
