MCQ marks in SSC, HSC to be decreased

DHAKA: The government has decided to cut 10 marks in multiple choice questions (MCQ) in Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations from 2017 onwards.

The decision was taken in a meeting, chaired by education minister Nurul Islam Nahid, at his secretariat office in city on Wednesday.

The ministry also decided that students have to sit for MCQ tests as part of their SSC and HSC examinations before their examinations in creative question papers in 2016.

Ministry senior information officer Muhammad Saifullah confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said the decreased 10 marks will be added to the creative question papers.

Later, the education minister told the journalists that the process of overhauling the existing public examination system is still in a primary stage.

He said that they are trying to find out a method to justify the competency of students.

The minister also put emphasis on discouraging the coaching system.

“Decisions will be taken after discussion with students, teachers, guardians, educationists and specialists,” he added.

Participants, in the meeting, also talked about initiating automotion system in BG Press for printing and packaging the questions.

Ministry high-ups, chairmen of education boards, heads of several government and non-government schools and colleges in city and education specialists were present in the meeting.
