Pry schools to get HC order against corporal punishment

DHAKA: Primary and Mass Education minister Mostafizur Rahman said every primary school must abide by the High Court (HC) order to stop corporal punishment.

‘Apart from keeping the directives hanging straight on walls of headmasters’ rooms in all 64,000 primary schools, newly-appointed headmasters will also take oath to implement the court order in this regard,’ the minister added.

He came up with the assertion while talking to reporters after a meeting at his secretariat office in city on Sunday (February 28).

Ganasakkharata Ovijan executive director Rasheda K Chowdhury, Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST) honorary executive director Sara Hossian, Save the Children’s Child Protection director Laila Khandaker, Advocacy and Communication manager Laila Karim and BLAST director and legal adviser SM Rezaul Karim attended the meeting.
