A new variant of the coronavirus, similar to the one found in the United Kingdom recently, was detected in Bangladesh in early November, according to Bangladeshi scientists.
Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) sequenced genomes of 17 coronavirus samples in November, reports BBC Bangla.
Among the samples, new strain was found in five of them which is almost similar, not 100 percent, to the one found in the United Kingdom, said Dr Selim Khan, principle scientific officer at BCSIR.
