DHAKA: A schoolboy died by falling from a rooftop of a house in Lalbagh area of the older part of the city on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Habib Rafi, 12, son of Abdur Rahim and a student of Maple Leaf International School.

Witnesses said Rafi fell onto a neighbouring one-storey tin shed building while running along the eaves of the roof of a 5-storey building to catch a pigeon in the afternoon.

Neighbours rushed him to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where on duty doctors declared him dead.

Sub-Inspector of Lalbagh Thana Mohsin said the body was handed over to the family members.
