Security beefed up in capital

DHAKA: Security measures have been beefed up across the country including the capital on Sunday centering the pronouncement of verdict of money laundering case against BNP senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman.

Additional law enforcers were deployed in various important places and suspicious person is being searched in those areas.

Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Abdul Jalil Mandal told banglanews, “Special security measures have been taken apprehending subversive act.”

Regarding the matter, Kotwali police station officer-in-Charge Shah Alam told banglanews, “Special security has been taken in the Special Judge Court of Dhaka-3 and adjacent areas. Suspicious one has given permission to entry the court after a good search centering the verdict.”

Armed Police Car (APC) and water canons were kept standby in the court premises, he added.

The verdict of much-talked-about money laundering case against BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman and his business partner Giash Uddin Al Mamun is set be pronounced on Sunday.
