Two brothers were hacked and beaten to death in Chuadanga’s Jibannagar upazila on Saturday (Sept 20) morning, reportedly over a lingering dispute with their neighbours.
Police said the attack took place around 10 a.m. in Uthli village. The victims were identified as Anwar, 55, and Hamza, 45 — sons of the late Khoda Box Mondal from the village’s Majherpara area.
According to police and local residents, the brothers had been embroiled in a feud with neighbouring rivals over the purchase of cattle.
On Saturday morning, while working in the fields, the rivals allegedly launched a brutal assault with sharp weapons, leaving the two brothers gravely injured, they added.
Villagers rushed them to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, where Hamza died during treatment and Anwar succumbed to his injuries shortly afterwards.
Dr. Wahid Mahmud Robin, a physician at the hospital, confirmed that both men died of severe hacking and beating injuries — one before arrival and the other while receiving treatment.
Jibannagar police chief Mamun Hossain Biswas said a team had been dispatched to the scene and a manhunt was under way to apprehend the attackers.
