DHAKA: President Advocate Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid homage to Shikha Anirban at Dhaka Cantonment marking the Armed Forces Day on November 21.
By placing floral wreath, the President paid tribute to the memory of martyrs at 8:00 am while Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid homage at 8:15am.
Meanwhile, the chiefs of three forces and high officials of armed forces were present during the time.
After placing wreath, the head of the state and the head of the government signed the visitor’s book at Shikha Anirban.
President and Prime Minister gave separate massage on the day.
In the afternoon, the Prime Minister will host a reception at "Sena Kunja" at Dhaka Cantonment to mark the day.
Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad, Chief Justice, former Presidents, Leader of the Opposition, members of the cabinet, judges of the High Court and the Supreme Court, Chief Election Commissioner, Election Commissioners, foreign envoys, high civil and military officials, intellectuals, journalists and elite of the society will attend the reception, among others.
This signifies the day in 1971, when the members of Army, Navy and Air force of the Bangladesh liberation war forces were fully operational and launched a coordinated offensive against the Pakistani Army.
