DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also Awami League president, has expressed hope that Bangladesh would make fighter plane some day.
The premier came up with the assertion while addressing at a function at Senakunja on Thursday afternoon on the occasion of ‘Armed Forces Day’.
In the speech, she mentioned various developments works at Army, Navy and Air Force and armed forces contribution to the country.
The premier said, “The government is committed to implement vision-2021. They are trying to modernize armed forces.”
She added: “A good number of military equipments, including plane, helicopter, radar and arms have bought from abroad. Some modern development works are underway for army in Sylhet and Bandarban.”
Sheikh Hasina said, “The government has taken many steps for modernizing Navy. Maritime dispute with Myanmar ended and maritime dispute with India will be resolved within 2014 and hope we will win the verdict.”
She told her audience that the army achieved to get people’s trust by performing voluntary works. They also got admire from abroad as thousands Bangladeshi army are working in United Nations Peace Missions in different countries.
