DHAKA: New Foreign Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali said he will go ahead by understanding the importance of work.

“Foreign ministry is wide area of work. It is very important for our country. I took my office toady. I will go ahead by understanding importance of work.”

Abul Hasan came up with the observation while talking to journalists after a meeting with high officials of foreign ministry on Friday morning.

Earlier in the morning he took office as foreign minister.   

Senior officers and foreign secretary welcomed him when he arrived at the ministry by a car carrying national flag at around 10:00am.

Earlier, Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali was minister for disaster and relief.

On Thursday, former foreign minister Dipu Moni was given a farewell by the ministry officials.
