DHAKA: Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Saturday categorically said there is still scope for holding dialogue to resolve the prevailing political crisis of the country.
“The main two political parties—Awami League and BNP--should sit in unconditional dialogue in this regard,” she said.
She came up with the observation while talking to journalists after a roundtable meeting at Radius Center at Gulshan in the capital.
The roundtable meeting on ‘fostering gender equality in politics’ was jointly organized by United Nations Development Program, United Nations Women and Democracy International.
Dr Shirin Sharmin said, “The main two parties have to reach a consensus. I think that the election will be free and fair with the participation of all political parties. There is still scope for talks.”
The Speaker also observed that the constitution is the supreme law of the country. “So, the polls will be held as per constitution,” she said.
