DHAKA: Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman HM Ershad on Saturday categorically said presidium member Kazi Zafar Ahmed has no right of giving statements, the way he has given one.

He also claimed that he violated the discipline of the party.

The chief of the party came up with the assertion in a  statement, sent to various news media on Saturday evening, protesting the statement of Kazi Zafar that termed Ershad as ‘betrayer’ for taking part in the so-called all-party polls-time government.

Sunil Suvoroy, press and political secretary of HM Ershad, confirmed the matter to banglanews.

In the statement, Ershad also said that Kazi Zafar is currently under treatment and “we will show-cause him later”.

Disciplinary actions from the party would be taken against him if the matter is true, Sunil Suvoroy added.

He also said that JP doesn’t believe in caretaker government and this is why there is no question to work for implementing the agenda of BNP.

In statement on Saturday evening, JP presidium member Kazi Jafar termed Ershad as betrayer and urged the grass-root level leaders and activists to take stance against his activities.

Kazia Zafar also urged them to come forward for staging movement in reinstating non-party government to oversee the next polls.  

He also opined that it is not possible to hold the free, fair and credible elections without non-party government.
