DHAKA: The cyclonic storm “lehar” (with ecp 992 hpa) over south andaman sea and adjoining area moved northwestwards, intensified into a severe cyclonic storm and now lies over south east bay and adjoining area.
The storm was centred about 1145 kms south of Chittagong port, 1055 kms south of Cox’s Bazar port and 1205 kms south-southeast of Mongla port at 6:00am on November 25.
It is likely to intensify further and move in a west -northwesterly direction.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 64 kms of the cyclone centre is about 90 kph rising to 110 kph in gust/squalls. Sea will remain very rough near the cyclone centre.
Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Mongla have been advised to keep hoisted distant warning signal No 2 (Two).
All fishing boats and trawlers over deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
