DHAKA: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed will address the nation on Monday evening where he will announce the schedule of the 10th general elections.
The CEC will address the nation at 7:30pm which will be telecast live in Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Bangladesh Betar (Radio).
Kazi Rakibuddin came up with the disclosure while talking to journalists after a meeting held at EC secretariat in the city. Election commissioners, director generals of BTV and Radio were among others present at the meeting.
Earlier in the morning, the election commission held a meeting in this regard.
The authorities concerned of Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar (Radio) were seen to take preparation for live telecast of his speech.
On Sunday, Election Commission (EC) sources confirmed that the EC has completed preparations to announce the polls-schedule.
Meanwhile, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Hasan Mahmood Khandaker, in a letter to CEC, assured that the law enforcement agencies are ready to keep law-and-order situation.
Additional safety measures have been taken in the city, including the BNP’s Nayapaltan office.
Earlier, the BNP-led 18-party threatened to create a deadlock situation in the country if the EC announces polls-schedule.
