DHAKA: The High Court on Monday stayed the remand order passed by lower court against Barrister AKM Fakhrul Islam, lawyer of BNP leader Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury.
An HC bench comprising Justice Sheikh Hasan Arif and Justice Mostafa Zaman Islam passed the order.
Former Attorney General MJ Mohammad Ali and Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon moved for the accused.
Barrister Mahbub said, “The investigation officer can interrogate Barrister Fakhrul in jail if necessary following the order.”
A Dhaka court on Sunday placed barrister AKM Fakrul Islam on a four-day remand in connection with the leak of a verdict of the International Crimes Tribunal.
Fakhrul--the lawyer for war crimes convict Salauddin Quader Chowdhury--was arrested at his office in the capital’s Kakrail on November 20.
He was charged under the Information and Communication Technology Act, 2006 on November 21.
