COMILLA: An activist of opposition BNP was shot dead and 45 others were injured in a clash between BNP-Jamaat men and police in Laksham Upazila of the district on Tuesday, the first day of 48-hour blockade.

The deceased was identified as Babul, 40, of Laksham Upazila.

Local sources said BNP-Jamaat men brought out a procession in Laksam bazaar at around 11:30am. Being protested by police, the blockade supporters hurled brick-chips at police.
