Juba League leader beaten dead

SATKHIRA: A Juba League leader was beaten to death by Jamaat-Shibir activists in Alaipur area under Kolaroya upazila of the district on Tuesday, the first day of BNP led 18-party called 48 hour nationwide blockade.   

The deceased was identified as Mahmudul Hasan Babu,32, joint general secretary Kolaroa upazila’s Deyara union unit of Juba League, the youth wing of Awami League.

Mahmudul’s brother also upazila Krishak League joint secretary Amanullah told banglanews that Jamaat-Shibir men intercepted Mahmudul near Alaypur area while he was heading to his business enterprise at Kolaroya and beaten him randomly at around 11.00am.

Later, locals rescued critically injured Mahmud and admitted to Satkhira Sadar Hospital where on duty doctor declared him dead at around 12.45 pm.

Shatkhira Additional Police super Joydeb Choudhwry confirmed the matter to banglanews and informed that the body was kept at hospital morgue for autopsy.
