DHAKA: Oscar Fernandez-Taranco, Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs of the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, is expected to visit the country on December 6.
A competent source from the foreign ministry confirmed the matter to banglanews on Wednesday.
In a meeting on Wednesday afternoon, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative Neal Walker informed the matter to the foreign ministry secretary Shahidul Haque.
Meanwhile, permanent representative of Bangladesh to UN Abdul Momen is also in the country at the moment.
Sources said Taranco would visit the country for the third time to solve the prevailing political crisis in Bangladesh.
Foreign Ministry sources said that Taranco would talk to the leaders’ from two main political parties and noted citizens of the country.
On May 10, Oscar Fernandez-Taranco came to Dhaka on a three–day visit.
