KHULNA: The rail communications of Khulna and Chandpur with other parts of the country halted due to derailment of Nakshikantha Express and Meghna Express early Wednesday.

Sources said that five compartments of Nakshikantha Express derailed at around 1:30am as blockade supporters removed the fishplates of rail track in Bejer Danga area of the district, leaving some passengers injured.

Confirming the matter, Khulna Railway Thana (GRP) Officer-in-Charge Ekram Ali Mollah the matter told banglanews, “The Khulna-bound train was coming from Goalanda.”

On the other hand, three compartment of Meghna Express derailed as miscreants removed the fishplates of rail track in Shahtali station area of Chandpur town at around 6:00am.

Chandpur railway Thana Officer-in-Charge Subhash Saha told banglanews, “The rail communications of the district remained halted following the derailment.”
