DHAKA: Foreign Secretary of India Sujatha Singh has arrived Dhaka Wednesday on a two-day long visit.
A special flight of air India carrying Sujatha landed at Shahjalal International Airport around 10:30am.
Meanwhile, Foreign Secretary Mohammad Shahidul Islam and India’s high commission to Bangladesh Pankaj Saran welcomed her in the airport.
In her visit, she is set to meet M Shahidul Haque, the Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh.
Sujatha will also pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign Minister Abdul Hasan Mahmood Ali.
Besides, the Indian Foreign Secretary will meet with the leader of opposition and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and Chairman of Jatiya Party General (retd.) Hussain Muhammad Ershad.
This will be Sujatha Singh’s first visit to Bangladesh after taking over office as Foreign Secretary on August 1, 2013.
Singh joined in the Indian Foreign Service in 1976. Prior to taking over as Foreign Secretary, she served as ambassador of India to Germany and High Commissioner to Australia.
