Hasina urges army to stay alert

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday directed armed forces to stay alert during the prevailing political unrest.

“Bangladesh believes in peace. Therefore, armed forces have to remain alert so that they can face any unwanted situation,” she said.

The premier came up with the direction in a meeting of National Defense College in the afternoon.

NDC Commandant, faculties, staff members, and new graduates of NDC and War Course were present in the meeting.

She added: “We established the NDC during our last tenure and now this institution has turned into an internationally reputed training institution. It’s indeed a matter of pride for us.”

The premier also hoped that armed forces will work with highest professionalism.

A total of 64 military and civil officials from home and abroad took part in the year-long NDC course.

Out of them 26 foreign military official were from Egypt, Nigeria, China, India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Tanzania.
