GAIBANDHA: The rail communications on Lalmonirhat and Santahar route remained halted for around 30 hours after derailment of a train in Burungi area under Sagata upazila of the district early Wednesday.

Sources said that three compartment of the train named Padmarag derailed at around 01:30am Wednesday as miscreants uprooted the fishplates of the railway track in the area, leaving five passenger killed on the spot.

Confirming the matter, Bonarpara Railway Station Master Aiyub Hossain Mollah told banglanews that the repairing is almost done and the rail services will resume on Thursday morning.
