DHAKA: In an order from the home ministry, a new Inspector General of Prison (IG Prison) was appointed on Thursday.

Additional Secretary of home ministry Mayeen Uddin Khandaker was appointed in the post.

Mayeen Uddin Khandaker was appointed as IG Prison as the tenure of contractual appointment of Brigadier General (retd) M Ashraful Islam Khan was over on November 17.

The order, signed by deputy secretary (Prison department) of home ministry Salma Begum, said state minister for home affairs Shamshul Haque Tuku gave approval to the appointment.
