COMILLA: A 52-kilometer traffic gridlock on Dhaka-Chittagong highway on Friday morning pushed thousands of passengers into immense sufferings.
Highway police sources said the traffic jam was created from Thursday night as all types of vehicles started to run after ending the 18-party called 131-hour blockade.
Daudkandi Highway Emergency sources said that superfluous vehicles created the gridlock in Moynamoti, Alekharchar, Kabila, Nimsar, Gouripur, Daudkandi area.
Daudkandi Highway Sub-Inspector Rais Uddin told banglanews, “Police are trying to reduce the nagging traffic jam.”
Moynamoti Highway Thana Officer-in-Charge Mashiur Rahman told banglanews, “There were severe traffic jams on Dhaka-Chittagong highway since Thursday night due to week-long blockade enforced by 18-party alliance.”
