DHAKA: The severe cyclonic storm ‘MADI’ (with estimated central pressure 990 hpa) over westcentral bay and adjoining southwest bay moved slightly northwards over the same area.
It was centred at 06 am Tuesday about 1145 kms southwest of Chittagong port, 1090 kms southwest of Cox’s bazar port and 995 kms south-southwest of Mongla port (near lat 14.80 n and long 84.70 e).
It is likely to move in a northerly direction, said the met office.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 64 kms of the storm centre is about 110 kph rising to 130 kph in gusts or squalls.
Sea will remain high near the storm centre.
Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Mongla have been advised to keep hoisted distant warning signal number two.
All fishing boats and trawlers over deep sea have been advised to remain close to North Bay and proceed with caution till further notice. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
