Cop-picket clash injures 30 in Dinajpur

DINAJPUR: At least 30 people were injured in a clash between law enforcers and pickets in Nimnagar Bus Stand area of the district on Tuesday.

Witnesses said the pickets were trying to blockade the rail track in the area around 11:30am during 18-party alliance’s called week long blockade and Jamaat called hartal.

When police tried to drive away them from the spot they locked into sporadic clashes with police.

Police opened fire rubber bullets and teargas shells to disperse them which lasted till 2:15pm, leaving at least 30 people injured.

The 18-party men claimed their some activists received bullet hit during the clash.

Deputy Commissioner of the district Ahmed Shamim Al Razi told banglanews that four platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) were deployed in the area to avert further clash.
