Family meets Mollah for last

DHAKA: Some 11 family members of Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Abdul Quader Mollah, convicted in war crimes cases, visited him for the last on Thursday evening.

Hasan Jamil, son of Quader Mollah told banglanews he along with other family members—his two brothers, two sisters, mother and maternal uncle—met him (Mollah) at Dhaka Central Jail around 7:00pm.

Earlier in the day, Hasan Jamil pleaded the jail authority to allow them to meet Quader Mollah.

Quader Mollah would be the first war crimes convict who would walk to gallows for his committing crimes against humanity during Liberation War in 1971.

Attorney General Mahbube Alam, on Thursday noon, said that there was no legal bar to execute Quader Mollah as the full bench of the Supreme Court appellate division Thursday rejected the plea to file a review petition challenging the verdict.

On Sunday, International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) issued death warrant.
