2 killed in city road mishaps

DHAKA: At least two persons were killed and five others injured in two separate road accidents in the city on Wednesday night.

A passenger bus turned turtle while crossing the Khilgaon flyover at around 10pm leaving one person dead and other five injured.

The deceased was identified as Monir Hossain, 26, son of late Ishak Mia and resident of capital’s Basabo area.

Office in Charge of Sabujbagh thana Asaduzzaman told banglanews24 that a Sayedabad- bound bus of “Bismillah” Paribahan turned turtle at Khilgaon flyover as the driver lost his control over the steering leaving pedestrian Monir Hossain and five others injured.

The injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical college Hospital (DMCH) where the duty doctors declared Monir dead.

On information, police rushed to the spot and seized the bus. Meanwhile, police arrested its driver.

A case was filed with Sabujbag police station in this connection, said police.

Another person was killed in a road crash in capital’s Mirpur area.

The deceased was identified as Akbar Ali, resident of Lalbagh area.

Sub inspector of Mirpur Model Thana Saiful Islam said a speedy minibus rammed Akbar while he was crossing a road close to Ansar Camp at Paikpara at about 9:30pm.

He was rushed to DMCH where duty doctor declared him dead.

A case was filed with Mirpur Model Thana in this connection.
