DHAKA: Gonojagoron Mancha is set to stage protest processions and rallies across the country on Friday protesting police action on its activists during its programme Thursday afternoon.
It will hold a protest rally at Shahbagh at 3:00pm Friday protesting the police attack on its Gulshan rally.
Some 11 activists were held while they were trying to besiege the Pakistan High Commission to Dhaka in city’s Gulshan area this afternoon.
A number of Gonojagoron Mancha activists were also injured as police charged batons on the protesters to disperse their rally.
The spokesperson of the association Imran H Sarker was held for a while, reports banglanews correspondent.
Sources said hundreds of protesters of Gonojagoron Moncho paraded to besiege Pakistan High Commission at around 3:30pm.
At one stage they locked into a scuffle with law enforcers while police barricaded them.
Police charged baton to disperse them and held 11 Gonojagoron Moncho activists in this connection.
The spokesperson of Gonojagoron Moncho Imran H Sarker blamed and criticized the behavior of law enforcers.
Joint Commissioner of police (Crime and Operation) said they just tried to disperse them because these sorts of programs are totally prohibited in the diplomatic zone.
