Auto-rickshaw torched in city, driver burnt

DHAKA: A driver of CNG-run auto-rickshaw was burnt as miscreants set fire to his vehicle in capital’s Sadarghat area on Thursday night, the last day of 72-hour blockade called by 18-party alliance.

The victim is identified as Jahangir, 35, hailed from Meradia of Khilgoan of the city.

Sources said that pouring petrol a youth in guise of passenger set fire to the CNG-run auto-rickshaw and fled the scene.

Later, he was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Duty doctor of burn unit Happy told banglanews, “Six percent of the victim’s body burnt.”
