The long-awaited footover bridge at Farmgate was opened for the commuters on Sunday (October 15).
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayor Atiqul Islam and was present during inauguration.
The 206-foot long and 21-foot wide Farmgate footbridge in the capital has been built spending Tk 20 crore.
The commuters expressed their satisfaction with the newly opened footover bridge.
Smita Hasan, a student told Banglanews, “It was risky to cross the road directly in Farmgate area, now I can cross safely as it is a footover bridge.”
Pedestrian Saiful Islam told Banglanews, “We are satisfied with the footover fridge here. Road crossing risk reduced. However, it would be better if escalators were added to this bridge. Hopefully that will be added in the future.”
Earlier, the old Farmgate footbridge was demolished nearly one and a half years ago for the construction of the Dhaka Elevated Expressway which was partially opened on September 2.
