The Ministry of Railways and Bangladesh Railway have formed three separate investigation committees to investigate the collision of two trains at Bhairab in Kishoreganj yesterday (Monday) noon.
Siraj Ud-Doula Khan, senior information officer of the Ministry of Railways confirmed the matter to Banglanews on Tuesday (October 24).
The Ministry of Railways has formed a seven-member investigation committee with Joint Secretary (Audit and ICT) as convener and Deputy Secretary (Administration-6) as member secretary to investigate the cause of the accident.
On the other hand, the Chattogarm divisional office of Bangladesh Railway with Shahidul Islam, Chief Mechanical Engineer Mohammad Zakir Hossain, Chief Engineer Arman Hossain, CSP Tushar and Chief Medical Officer Ahad Ali Sarkar has formed a five-member investigation committee.
Bangladesh Railway's Dhaka divisional office has also formed a five-member investigation committee.
The members are - Divisional Transport Officer, Dhaka 2. Divisional Mechanical Engineer Locomotive, Divisional Engineer-1 Dhaka, Divisional Signal and Telecommunication Engineer, Dhaka.
Siraj Ud-Daula Khan told Banglanews that Bangladesh Railway has dismissed three people after the incident.
The people are - Locomaster Jahangir Alam, Assistant Locomaster Atiqur Rahman and Guard Alamgir Hossain.
On Monday (October 23) noon, at least 17 people were killed and many others injured when a container train and a passenger train collided in Kishoreganj's Bhairab upazila.
